Secret Service Group
"Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven." - Mat. 5:16
"Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven." - Mat.6:6
The "Secret Service" group is a group to encourage students ("Secret Service Agents") to find ways to secretly do Random Acts of Kindness ("Top Secret Missions") for others at school. I did this group before as a school counselor intern (here's the group I did for internship), and loved it so much that I couldn't wait to do the group again! The picture to the left is from my internship group, so I've changed some of the things up a bit. I'll post pics soon.
Each week, the Agents get a "mission" to show kindness to someone else, but they can not let that person know who did it. (The only ones who know about this group are the students' two teachers, and the students parents). Missions they might be asked to do: write an anonymous note to a classmate telling them what you admire about them, or slip positive notes into the lockers of your classmates. When we meet as a group, we discuss what it was like to do the kind deed and what responses they got. The conversations we have work to inspire the kids to do even more kind deeds, eventually creating a ripple effect of kindness throughout the school.
Other fun perks of being a Secret Service Agent: The group has a secret locker with a lock that only the Secret Agents know the combination to. As they complete missions, they can record it in the notebook, as well as any other communication they need to have with me, the "Lead Agent". They also received a medal that I decorated to personalize to our school, an official membership card, and a notebook to record their missions. (Will post pics of these when I can remember to take them!)

Mission: Use sticky notes to spread some encouragement!
I showed them this video about a girl who was cyber-bullied. Instead of striking back, she chose to spread kindness throughout the school by posting encouraging sticky notes on every locker in her school! My agents have really enjoyed this mission- but I'm going to have to restock my sticky notes! (by the way- non-paid advertisement: Super-Sticky Post-its are SOO worth the extra price!) There are sticky notes all over the school with encouraging verses, motivational sayings, and encouragement. When I went into the bathroom, they were on the mirror. When I went into a classroom, there was one on the door. I've heard so many kids and teachers in the hallway commenting on the notes, saying it really made their day. And the best part: no one knows who did it!! Well done Secret Service Agents! More missions to come!
